Ioulia Kontopoulou is a Researcher at the AE4RIA Sustainable Development Unit of the Athena Research Centre and a Scientific Associate at the ReSEES Lab of the Athens University of Economics and Business. She holds an MSc in Disaster Management and Global Health from the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens School of Medicine, an MBA in Health Administration from CNAM, an MA in Strategic Communication and Public Relations, and a Diploma in Existential Coaching. At a clinical level, she holds a DDS in Dentistry and postgraduate diplomas in Stomatology, in Maxillofacial Surgery. She is also a former Associate at the Pediatric Hospital of Penteli, with an extensive experience in both the private and the public health sector. Dr. Theo Benos is currently a member of the Research Laboratory on Socio-Economic and Environmental Sustainability (ReSEES) at the Athens University of Economics and Business. He holds a BSc from the Athens University of Economics and Business, an MSc in Agribusiness Management from Wageningen University, an MA in Marketing Analysis from Ghent University, and a PhD in Cooperatives from Wageningen University. He has previously worked as a researcher at the University of Crete, the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, and the Zuyd University of Applied Sciences. In addition, he has served as an advisor to the Turkish Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry and has taught as a lecturer at Maastricht University. Dr.Dr.Fivos Papadimitriou (PhD University of Oxford, PhD University of Budapest, BSc, MSc, MEd, MSc) has created new mathematical methods for spatial analysis. Among them are the first differential equations models (linear and nonlinear) of land use transformations, the spatial formula of the “edit distance” algorithm, the first braid-theoretical models and ultrametric-topological formulas of land use /landscape structure, the first sets of criteria to assess the progress of AI towards spatially-enabled artificial general intelligence and super-intelligence, and the discovery of the mathematical procedures by which large spatial complexities can be generated from simple raster spatial domains.

He has taught at Greek Universities for more than ten years and has carried out research and consultancies in several countries. He is a member of the boards of various high-quality international peer-reviewed scientific journals of geography and mathematics and has received awards, research fellowships, distinctions, honorary appointments and invitations from universities, professional societies, academies of sciences, national and international organizations.

His foremost important contributions to science are his original mathematical methods for measuring spatial complexity, spatial entropy and landscape complexity. These methods have universal applicability because they can be used to analyze maps, landscapes, satellite images, photographs, paintings or 3d objects (as the case may be). For this reason, they have been cited in publications presenting field research carried out in diverse geographical settings (from tropics and deserts to Tibet and Antarctica) as well as in publications relating to engineering, electronics, medical diagnostics, AI and quantum computing.

Dr. Theodore Daglis is an Assistant Professor at the Agricultural University of Athens, Department of Regional & Economic Development.
