Ioannis Kougias is a research fellow at the Joint Research Centre of the European Commission. As a scientific analyst, he regularly provides insight into several European projects related to energy. His research interests extend to the fields of renewables, hydropower, water-energy nexus, access to energy in rural/remote/island areas and the sustainable electrification of sub-Saharan Africa. He regularly publishes in scientific periodicals and supports EU policy-making.
