On Wednesday, July 12th, Professor Koundouri was invited to give a lecture to students of the “Environment and Rural Development” department at the prestigious National School of Public Administration and Local Government (ESDDA). ESDDA is the educational unit of the National Centre of Public Administration and Local Government with the mission of creating a body of specialized officials of Public Administration. Graduates from this esteemed institution often assume crucial roles within the Greek administration or secure prominent positions in international organizations.
Professor Koundouri’s lecture focused on “The Transition from Multi-Crisis to Sustainability”. During her speech, she introduced the concepts of Sustainable development and the EU policy framework for the transition to sustainability, examining its implementation in national policy agendas. Topics covered included the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), the UN Agenda 2030, the European Green Deal, the EU Taxonomy, the National Energy and Climate Plan, the Fit for 55 initiative, the Climate Delegate Act, and RePower EU. Additionally, she provided an overview of cutting-edge scientific approaches aimed at developing technological and financial dynamic pathways that facilitate the transition to climate neutrality and climate resilience.
The students actively engaged in discussions and shared their valuable insights during the lecture, contributing to a fruitful exchange of ideas.
