SDSN Greece Youth participates in the Sustainability Summit for Southeast Europe and the Mediterranean

SDSN Greece Youth members Joseph Adler, Christina Christoforou Livani (SDSN Greece Youth Coordinator), Paraskevi Karra, Christoforos – Dimitrios Zafeiris, Stylianos Zlatanos, Achilleas Vassilopoulos (Academic Head SDSN Greece) and Klea Morianou (Manager SDSN Greece) attended the “Adapt or Die?” Sustainability Summit for Southeast Europe and the Mediterranean on November 30th, 2016 at the Divani Apollon Palace&Thalasso in Athens.

The event was organized by “The Economist”, in an effort to raise questions and put forward proposals vitally related to the achievement of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) as well as the 169 targets, as recently adopted by the United Nations. The program consisted of two sessions and speakers from the private and public sector, NGOs and policy makers as well, addressed issues of high importance, like the impact of the president – elect Donald Trump’s policy concerning the Paris Agreement, the UK’s position on sustainability after the referendum Brexit, possible opportunities which do still exist despite the financial crisis and the relation between technology and environment. Each session was followed by time for discussion, which was always focused on the question that manifests the urgency for adaptability: adapt or die?
