This October, SEAWISE completes one year of activities on the design of Ecosystem-based Fisheries management Strategies.
ATHENA RC participates in various Work Packages, but more extensively in WP2-Social and Economic effects of fishing, where it leads Task 2.1 on the identification of key social and economic aspects of fisheries, through a systematic literature review.
The systematic review, consisted of expert consultation meetings, scientific papers’ screening and a data extraction process, all coordinated by ATHENA RC, started in November 2021. The deliverable was submitted, as was initially scheduled, in April 2022. This report reviewed the fisheries management strategies implemented in the different European marine regions, and identified relevant indicators, models and tools that can be used to predict the effectiveness of these fisheries management strategies, from a social and economic point of view.
ATHENA RC participates in the meetings and collaborates with other partners in the Mediterranean Case Study of the Meeting.
The Annual Meeting and the General Assembly of SEAWISE took place online on the 13th, 14th and 15th of September.
ATHENA RC participates in SEAWISE with Prof. Phoebe Koundouri as the Principal Investigator (PI), and Prof. George Halkos, Dr. Artemis Stratopoulou, and Mr. Angelos Plataniotis as team members.
