On Friday 26 May 2023, the 1st webinar of the MENA Maritime Accelerator on the topic “Blue Growth, Sustainable Shipping & Ports” took place virtually, with the participation of distinguished speakers.
This is the first of a series of specialized webinars designed by HRADF in collaboration with the Research Center ATHENA, and specifically with the scientific team led by Professor Phoebe Koundouri and the MENA Maritime Accelerator network, aiming to educate the personnel of the ports in the Financial, Social and Environmental aspects of Sustainability.
During the session, Professor Vasiliki Tsoukala (School of Civil Engineering NTUA, Department of Water Resources and Environment, Director of Port Works Laboratory) talked about adequate, safe, accessible and well-maintained ports, while Professor Harilaos N. Psaraftis (Professor, Department of Technology, Management and Economics, Operations and Supply Chain Management, Technical University of Denmark (DTU)) presented ways of greenhouse gas emissions reduction in shipping as well as actions in the International Maritime Organization (IMO) and the European Union.
Participants had the opportunity to ask questions of the presenters during the seminar, which was also recorded.
