First Seminar: ESG Momentum in International Equity Returns and the SDG Content of Financial Asset Portfolios
Presenter: Dr. Conrad Landis, Senior Researcher, AE4RIA

Abstract:
This seminar explores the intersection of Environmental, Social, and Governance ESG momentum and Sustainable Development Goals SDGs integration in international equity markets. Using data from 2002–2023, the study identifies strong ESG momentum effects across 63 global markets, demonstrating an annualized Sharpe ratio of 0.7. The role of ESG controversies in short-term financial performance will be examined, along with a novel model to assess the SDG footprint of financial portfolios. With regulations like the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD) shaping the investment landscape, this discussion offers key insights for investors and policymakers.

Join us for the first seminar in this exciting series and be part of an engaging discussion at the intersection of finance and sustainability!
