ChoiceEU 2nd Annual Plenary Meeting

Our team participated in the 2nd Annual Plenary Meeting of the CHOICE Project, held in Paris, France, on 6–7 November 2025. CHOICE is a Horizon Europe initiative dedicated to advancing climate-smart transformations across global food systems. The project brings together partners from Europe, Africa, and Latin America to integrate behavioral science, innovative modelling tools, and participatory pilots into practical pathways for sustainable change.

Over the course of two days, partners:

  • Assessed progress across all case-study pilots

  • Shared insights from stakeholder mapping and early engagement activities

  • Coordinated the next steps for the behavioral campaigns

  • Advanced work on integrated assessment models and digital tools

  • Strengthened collaboration across regions and disciplines

The Sustainable Development Unit – ATHENA RC Development Unit, led by Professor Dr. Phoebe Koundouri as Principal Investigator, was represented by Georgia Papageorgiou and Dr. Theodore Daglis. Their contributions supported discussions on:

  • Stakeholder analysis across pilots and case studies

  • Examination of local contexts and project-specific challenges

  • Design and implementation of discrete CHOICE experiments across all case studies

  • Development of behavioral campaigns, including identification of behavioral barriers, living-lab approaches, content co-creation, and metrics for behavioral change

Their input reinforced the project’s efforts to combine behavioral insights with participatory methodologies, ensuring that CHOICE interventions remain both community-driven and evidence-based.

The meeting highlighted the project’s accelerating progress—from campaign design and behavioral analysis to model enhancement and pilot demonstrations—underscoring CHOICE’s commitment to linking science, technology, and society in the pursuit of climate-resilient food systems.
