EU Climate Pact National Event 2025 in Athens

As an EU Climate Pact ambassador, Prof. Phoebe Koundouri had the privilege of speaking at the EU Climate Pact National Event 2025 in Athens on Friday, February 21. Hosted by INZEB at the Goethe-Institut, the event successfully united policymakers, industry leaders, and citizens to explore inclusive, impactful solutions to the pressing climate challenges.

During the panel discussion titled “Climate Finance: Funding Climate Resilience and Adaptation,” Prof. Koundouri, alongside other experts, explored the critical role that climate finance plays in building resilience and supporting adaptation efforts. In her address, Prof. Koundouri stressed the urgent need to reform the global financial system to better align with climate resilience and adaptation goals. She shared valuable insights into SDG-aligned fiscal policies, investment strategies, and highlighted the initiatives being pursued at the SDSN Global Climate Hub. Prof. Koundouri emphasized how unlocking sustainable finance can act as a powerful catalyst for accelerating the green transition. The Hub’s mission is to provide data-driven, science-based recommendations to combat the climate crisis, utilizing cutting-edge data and technologies to support the implementation of country-specific action plans.
