Prof. Phoebe Koundouri in conversation with award-winning / EU-funded research programs” with Prof. Panagiotis Dimopoulos, Vice-Chancellor, University of Patras, Prof. Nektarios Tavernarakis, Vice President of the Scientific Council of the European Research Council (ERC), Ioannis Vassiliou, Emeritus Professor, Director and Chairman of the Board of the Research University Institute of Communication and Computer Systems of the National Technical University of Athens. Prof. Koundouri presented the first ERC Synergy Grant ever to be received by a Greek Scientist, which she won together with Prof. Hummer, Prof. Polycarbou and Prof. Savic, with the title “Water Futures”. She also presented the 15 currently running Horizon 2020 and INTERREG projects, together with the 14 currently running EIT Climate KIC projects and programs, that run under her scientific supervision at the Re.SEES Research Laboratory of the Athens University of Economics and Business and the Sustainable Development Unit at the ATHENA Research Center, both of which she directs. Prof. Koundouri talked about her team of world class researchers that work in these projects and emphasized the richness of Greece in terms of excellent researchers:
