At the Global Forum of Intellectual Capital (GFIC) 2025, Lydia Papadaki, Researcher at AE4RIA, represented the team at ATHENA Research Center, presenting the paper “Cultivating Resilience: Best Practices and Innovation in Agriculture under Climate Stress” (2025), co-authored with Eirini Afentouli and Professor Phoebe Koundouri.
The presentation showcased research conducted within the Horizon Europe FoodCoP project, focusing on the mapping of 50 Startup Villages across Europe. This work documents key territorial characteristics, economic profiles, and levels of innovation readiness, establishing a comparable baseline of rural innovation ecosystems. The analysis highlights shared challenges and emerging opportunities in circular bioeconomy and agri-food system transformation, and forms the foundation for identifying best practices and guiding the project’s comparative analysis.
FoodCoP (Horizon Europe) aims to strengthen interregional collaboration among Startup Villages and support sustainable food system transitions through circular bioeconomy strategies. Within the project, ATHENA Research Center participates as a partner, with Professor Phoebe Koundouri serving as Principal Investigator at ATHENA.
