Prof. Phoebe Koundouri on Climate Resilience and Human Security at Strategic Foresight Workshop

On Thursday, February 27th, at the First Strategic Foresight Workshop on Challenges to the Rule-Based International Order in Athens, Prof. Phoebe Koundouri had the privilege of speaking on the panel “Emerging Security Challenges in the 21st Century.” In her address, titled “Climate Change Effects on Human Security: Pathways to Sustainability,” she highlighted the critical intersection between climate resilience and global security, stressing the urgent need for integrated, science-driven policy responses.

Prof. Koundouri also drew attention to the recent publication in Springer Nature Discover Sustainability, titled “Mapping Human Security Strategies to Sustainable Development Goals: A Machine Learning Approach.” This groundbreaking research introduces an innovative ML-based methodology to explore the connections between Human Security and the SDGs. By utilizing advanced text analytics and AI models, the team developed a web-based SDG mapping tool that significantly enhances the alignment of security policies with sustainability objectives.
