Prof. Phoebe Koundouri along with Prof. Yannis Ioannidis and Prof. Chrysi Laspidou participated in the Greek delegation at the International EXPO 2020 Dubai in the United Arab Emirates, which took place 22 – 24 February representing ATHENA information technologies Research Center (ATHENA RC). The goal was the synergies in issues of artificial intelligence, sustainability technologies and green transition, as well as business development in these areas. The Greek delegation led by the Deputy Minister of Development and Investment Christos Dimas consisted of 15 start-ups of Elevate Greece, 7 Research Centers of Greece and the 4th Generation Technology Park in Thessaloniki (ThessINTEC).
The 1st day the delegation visited the Greek Innovation Business Forum, the Greek kiosk, they visited the Dubai Silicon Oasis Technology Park, as well as the startup offices of the company InstaShop. On the 2nd day the delegation went to Abu Dhabi, for a visit and business meetings in Masdar City, to the business accelerator Hub71 of the Mubadala investment fund, as well as to the state investment body ADQ – (holding Company).
The mission was organized in collaboration with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Enterprise Greece, the Abu Dhabi Embassy and the Dubai Office of Economic and Commercial Affairs, with the aim of cooperating, investing, exchanging ideas and studying best practices on development, innovation ecosystems and research activity issues.
