Based on the 1st SDSN European Green Deal Senior Working Group report on the “Transformations for the Joint Implementation of Agenda 2030 for Sustainable Development and the European Green Deal: A Green and Digital, Job-Based and Inclusive Recovery from COVID-19 Pandemic”, Prof. Koundouri connected the dots between four major policy initiatives – the SDGs, the European Green Deal, the European Semester, and the EU recovery plan and presented actionable strategies for policymakers that can guide EU-wide and national economic recovery in line with the continent’s overarching sustainability agenda. She also argued that recovery must be based on science and innovation and introduced aspects of her work that aim to support this, through a presentation of research and innovation projects, innovation acceleration initiatives, education and training programs and research-policy interface networks, which she leads.
