Digitalization and Sustainable Development: Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) Tools for Sustainability

Course Title:
Digitalization and Sustainable Development: Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) Tools for Sustainability

Description:
The Digitalization and Sustainable Development course examines how digital transformation—particularly through Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML)—can accelerate progress toward sustainability goals in the built environment. Through real-world case studies and hands-on learning, participants will explore practical AI and ML techniques, including supervised and unsupervised learning, and gain an introduction to Natural Language Processing (NLP) concepts such as Transformers and vector databases.

This course provides a multidisciplinary foundation that bridges data science, environmental studies, and sustainable innovation—equipping learners to lead or contribute effectively to sustainability-focused digital projects.

Completing this course will equip you to:

  • Understand how AI and ML technologies support sustainable development objectives.

  • Apply supervised and unsupervised learning methods to sustainability challenges.

  • Explore the fundamentals of NLP and its potential in sustainable systems analysis.

  • Critically assess and design digital strategies for sustainable innovation in the built environment.
