Confucius-Aristotle Symposium – Qufu and Beijing, China

The 3rd Confucius-Aristotle Symposium taking place in Qufu and Beijing from July 8 to 12, 2024.
This event, a collaboration between esteemed institutions from China and Greece, is convened by the UN Sustainable Development Solutions Network (SDSN), led by President Jeffrey Sachs and organized by Senior Manager Philo Wang.

Professor Phoebe Koundouri during her opening remarks in Qufu noticed the hosting and organizing he last three symposiums in Greece in 2019 , 2022 , and 2023 focusing on ancient wisdom for modern challenges and identifying common heritage and shared values to promote peace and cooperation in the 21st century. 

This year, the Symposium hosted by the Nishan World Center for Confucian Studies, the China Confucius Foundation, the Tsinghua University Institute for Advanced Study in Humanities and Social Sciences, and the Mencius Foundation, to honor Confucius and the global impact of ancient Chinese civilization. The focus was on the common approaches of Aristotle, Confucius, and other traditions and exploring their meaning for our time.

150 world-famous scholars and leaders from over 10 countries gathered to discuss the contemporary relevance of Confucianism and Aristotelianism, comparative philosophy, global ethics, and the theory and practice of “the commons.” Topics spanned cultural dialogue, classical studies, political philosophy, ecology, religion, artificial intelligence, and public policy.
